TransparentSmoke offers hosting from our offices in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. TransparentSmoke web servers all run FreeBSD software to ensure dramatic uptimes and our customer’s security. We cap our upload bandwidth on each account at 512kbps. If your site will require more than this, (roughly 10,000 hits per day) we recommend that you move your site to a hosting service right on the backbone of the internet.
We find that administering web sites for our customers in the preliminary stages is best served by having the pages onsite. Many customers may eventually outgrow our ability to maintain them onsite, but we’ll stay with them every step of the way, by helping to place their site with appropriate service providers.

- Many customers require special software and additional services. If it makes monetary sense, TransparentSmoke is willing to consider making any changes necessary to host your site.
* Unlimited disk space – TransparentSmoke is continually updating it’s servers to accommodate new customers. To this end we have the ability to offer almost unlimited space to each customer. You’ll go broke moving extreme quantities of data back and forth before we run out of space. Most web sites will not exceed 50Mb, and the ones that do are just archiving seldom accessed material for their users.
Special Terms & Conditions
There aren’t many.
- We can not by law host illegal content (child pornography, etc.) on our servers. And we won’t tolerate it from a moral standpoint, so that’s covered
- Cracking – We can not allow our customers to attempt to access private data within the TransparentSmoke servers or other customers accounts. Any attempt will result in cancellation of the account in question. Your account data will be mailed to you within 14 days of termination.
- Though the internet is based on several principals that actually seem to condone copyright violation. We can not as a company allow flagrant violations by our customers. First complaint will result in a request to remove the data. Second complaint will result in a fine of $250.00, to cover the time and effort your account’s violations have created. Third offence will result in the termination of services by TransparentSmoke. Your account data will be mailed to you within 14 days of termination.
- We reserve the moral right to terminate an account for any reason. It’s our company, at times we must make decisions that reflect the corporate presence we are attempting to convey.
We respect our customer’s right to free speech, so much so, that we’ll stand behind you in an attempt to keep your information online, if your original material is found to be offensive yet not illegal. Remember to keep us in the loop so as we can help you, rather working against you.
