TransparentSmoke Review: Dewar’s blended whisky is the most popular whisky in the world by volume. It is drank the world around as a simply good whisky. The Dewar’s family made the distillery at Aberfeldy, just so they could make more whisky for their blend at a cheaper price. The Internet can’t lock down how much of Aberfeldy whisky never gets sold as coming from Aberfeldy, but some estimate 99% of the volume of the distillery goes into the Dewar’s blends.
The Aberfeldy 12 year bottle says limited bottling batch No. 2905. But here is the amusing thing, I can’t find a bottle since 1999 that doesn’t say that. They all seem to be from the same batch and this seems to be the worlds longed limited bottling.
The whisky is nice and simple. My bottle has been open for a long while, but I can find the plump fruits and the whisper of smoke. This is a nice beginners show piece for what I hope the older age statement bottlings can do.
